Mr Mostafaei’s father-in-law arrested
Court hearing for Sakine Ashtiani’s case this Wednesday
Mohammad Mostafaei, Sakine Ashtiani’s lawyer, commented on the arrest of members of his family after going into hiding over a week ago. He stated that his father-in-law had also been arrested by the Iranian regime on Sunday, 1 August. According to other sources his father-in-law and brother-in-law are supposed to be released tonight and then only his wife, Fereshte Halimi, will remain in prison. Currently no one has access to Ms Halimi and there is no information about her condition.
Mr Mostafaei is still in hiding and has written an open letter via email to the Tehran prosecutor regarding the arrest of his wife and her family. He said that his family is being held hostage and demanded that they should be released immediately.
A court hearing has been announced for Wednesday in Tehran regarding Ms Ashtiani’s case. Her son Sajad was told by the authorities that he would receive news about his mother on Thursday.
The Islamic regime continues to execute prisoners. Today it executed Reza Mohajer in Rejaishahr Karaj who had been in prison for 11 years. Jafar Kazemi, a 46-year-old political prisoner is in imminent danger of execution as well as dozens of other prisoners.
