Help us save the children survivors
of the Bam earthquake
January 23, 2004
It is now nearly a month
since the devastating earthquake in the city of Bam in Iran, when thousands of people died and more than 2
thousand children who survived the earthquake were abducted. The Islamic
Republic authorities have not yet found out the names and whereabouts of these
children. Following the Iranian government’s irresponsible action regarding the
matter, Ms Carol Bellamy, the Executive Director of UNISEF, has proposed plans
to coordinate the safe guardianship of the 7000 children who have lost their
parents in the earthquake. Despite all these efforts, there is still no news of
the whereabouts of these children by any international authority.
“Children First”, the Office
in Iran, has made the campaign to find and support these
children its priority. The efforts to put pressure on the Iranian social
services and the government to locate these children must continue. They must
immediately be found, and cared for to the best internationally recognized
standards of safety and provided with suitable living and educational
conditions.
So far, several people from Europe
and USA have contacted the Office of Children First and
declared their willingness to help the children of Bam. We are striving to add
to this list and save the lives of children in Bam.
Lets break the silence about
this catastrophe. Help us save the lives of children of Bam.
